Though the method for night vision has changed, going from a hand-held camera to an invasive surgery involving goggles, it's still a vitally important aspect of the game. As mentioned, the inclusion of night vision is a must for any Outlast entry. Hiding isn't the only mechanic The Outlast Trials employs that feels directly tied to the previous games. In total Outlast fashion, players can use these places to break off a chase through a confusing and terrifying labyrinth as well as let their friends take the damage from the threats. In fact, the game pays a perfect tribute to the original in the form of hiding spots like lockers, bins, and under desks that are reminiscent of the previous games.
